Vauxhall’s new four-cylinder car first appeared in March 1957 and was distinctive in having the first wrap around panoramic windscreen and rear window that were so popular with other General Motors vehicles in the USA. Vauxhall was, of course owned by General Motors.
Other transatlantic influences can be found in the car’s semi-monocoque construction with plastic coated floorpan and much chromium plating adorning the bodywork.
