Volunteering success at Haynes International Motor Museum
As Volunteer’s Week 2018 draws to a close, Haynes International Motor Museum reflects on how a successfully run volunteer programme greatly benefits both the Museum and volunteers.
As part of the Volunteer’s Week celebration the Museum asked their cohort of 70+ dedicated volunteers what volunteering at the Museum means for them. The volunteers replied in their droves with “camaraderie”, “purpose”, “enjoyment”, “pride” and, somewhat unsurprisingly, “cars”, topping the list of responses.
“We are indebted to our dedicated team of volunteers for their commitment and hard work towards the Museum. To ensure the volunteering programme works for both volunteers and the Museum we have a dedicated Volunteers Coordinator who works cross-departmentally developing a strategic and cohesive approach to our volunteering efforts.” said Chris Scudds, Deputy CEO and Commercial Director.
“The end result is a happy, motivated team of volunteers who have contributed circa 5,000 hours year to date totalling 7.2 full time equivalent staff members. We are delighted this approach is proving highly beneficial and rewarding for both volunteers and Museum” he added.
