The Haynes International Motor Museum collection contains one of the UK’s largest displays of Speedway motorcycles and related objects. Many people believe Speedway racing no longer exists in this country when in fact, the reality is quite different and there are still a number of active teams, fans and competitions.  A closer look at the Forshaw Collection exhibition’s interpretation reveals  that for many decades before and after World War Two, Speedway was Great Britain’s favourite sport and even more popular than football!

We were thrilled when four times World Speedway Champion, Barry Briggs (known to his fans as ‘Briggo’), visited the Museum over the Easter weekend.  Born in New Zealand, Barry was arguably one of the finest Speedway racers of all time and was awarded a MBE in 1976 for services to motorsport.
