Volunteers have been paying homage to the classic film, The Italian Job with the help of a rare 1960s Mini cutaway ahead of special outdoor cinema screening. Channelling the spirit of The Italian Job’s unforgettable line, ‘You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off’, volunteers donned boiler suits and helmets before sitting behind the wheel of the iconic Mini.
The Museum’s Outdoor Cinema, originally due to take place on 14th July, has now been rescheduled to 9 September.
Channelling the spirit of The Italian Job’s unforgettable line, ‘You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off’, volunteers donned boiler suits and helmets before sitting behind the wheel of one of the Museum’s iconic Mini motors.
The Mini cutaway was produced in the 1960s and is exhibited at Haynes Motor Museum to demonstrate how the compact ‘modern’ car was created. It’s believed the cutaway was used in the late 1960s by the Southwest Region Police Driving school to help train traffic officers.
