Ford Granada Mk II is 40
The name ‘Granada’ has not been in Ford’s lexicon for many years but there was a time when it represented the marque’s range-topping executive product and was something to aspire to if a Mercedes or BMW was beyond the buyer’s pocket.
The Granada (or ‘Consul’ for its cheaper variants) was introduced by Ford in 1972 and was replaced by the Mark II in 1977. The design of the second generation featured modern, square styling with clean, straight lines and echoed the Mark IV Cortina which had been released the previous year.
It was a handsome car and, despite its age, still looks good today. That is, if you see one. Like so many popular and mass produced cars the Granada has not survived well and is now, and rightly so, regarded as a modern classic.
