Who We Are
Founded in 1985 by the successful automotive publisher John Haynes OBE, we are an independent registered charity. We look after a collection of more than 300 vehicles and automotive memorabilia as well as an extensive library and archive.
Our charitable aims are to educate, preserve, and conserve motoring heritage for future generations.
Governed by a Board of Trustees, we are accredited by Arts Council England, a member of the Museums Association, and hold Visit England's Gold Accolade.

As an independent Museum charity, our work is made possible thanks to the support of our visitors, alongside donations and fundraising activities.

Our Board of Trustees govern the charity and are collectively passionate about supporting the Museum’s mission donating their time, resource and expertise.
