Neville Sanders
16/06/1934 - 31/01/2025
On behalf of the trustees, staff, and volunteers at the Museum, we are deeply saddened by the passing of former trustee Neville Sanders. He passed away peacefully at home on 31st January at the age of 90.
As one of the Museum’s founding trustees, appointed in May 1985, Neville was a thoughtful and dedicated leader. He served with diligence, integrity, and a true sense of duty, playing a vital role in shaping the museum’s foundations where we are now and upon
which we continue to grow. He resigned from the board in September 2021, having served the charity for 35 years.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to Neville’s family, friends, and colleagues, from his overlapping passions for classic cars, golf, sailing, and beyond. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Christopher Haynes, Chair of Trustees of the Haynes Motor Museum, reflects:
“Neville was a thoughtful and dedicated man who served the museum with unwavering commitment. His passing, peacefully at home near Totnes, is deeply saddening.
As a trustee, he carried out his role with diligence, integrity, and a profound sense of duty. His invaluable guidance and contributions helped shape the museum’s journey and his legacy will endure for years to come.
Beyond his work with the museum, Neville was a trusted advisor and a cherished friend to our family. His support extended not only on a personal level but also through his wise counsel in our wider businesses, including the Haynes Publishing Group PLC.
His involvement with the Southern Milestone Motor Club and his many other passions brought him great joy, and those fortunate enough to meet him along the way were undoubtedly touched by his kindness, generosity, and humour. These are qualities for which I will always remember him with great fondness.
On behalf of the Haynes family, the Haynes Motor Museum Board of Trustees, staff, and volunteers, I extend my deepest sympathies to Neville’s family during this difficult time.”
Neville’s family welcome all to his celebration of life service, St Mary Magdalene Church in Thornford, at midday on Friday 28th March and afterwards at Thornford Village Hall.
